Project Description

We invite you to join the DC Spartans in volunteering at the annual laying of the wreaths at Arlington National Cemetery on Saturday, December 18 at 8:30 a.m.

If you haven't added this to your list of holiday traditions, you absolutely should. Placing a wreath on graves to honor our servicemen and servicewomen is a simple action with immense meaning. Also, if you have family, it is highly recommended that you bring them, too.

We hope you will consider showing your Spartan spirit through service and volunteer today. Because of the increased interest from the general public, Arlington National Cemetery has instituted entry reservations this year. In light of this we encourage you to make reservations as soon as possible if you are planning to participate.  At this time, it appears reservations for Memorial Gate (the main gate) are already sold out for 8 a.m. entry. However, reservations for 8 a.m. entry for the other two gates, the South Gate and Ord & Weitzel Gate, are still available as of this posting.

You can learn more about the event and entry reservations at the following website:

https://learn.wreathsacrossamerica.org/anc2021

We will plan to meet at 8:30 a.m. near the main gate in the plaza area where the trolleys load.  As those who have participated before know, the wreaths often run out fast so we will gather and then figure out in which section we will be placing wreaths. We do request that volunteers sign-up with DC Spartans by December 14.

If you have any questions, please email Geoff Rinehart, who is leading this community service event, at gjrinehart@gmail.com.

About Arlington National Cemetery

REMEMBER the fallen… HONOR those who serve… TEACH our children the value of freedom.

Welcome to the Wreaths Across America location page for Arlington National Cemetery.

As one of the largest veteran cemeteries in the United States, the goal of placing a wreath on every marker is lofty. Our volunteers are committed to Remembering and Honoring our nation’s veterans through the laying of wreaths on the graves of our country’s fallen heroes and the act of saying the name of each veteran aloud.

Please help Wreaths Across America reach our goal by sponsoring a veteran's wreath and register to join us on December 18th as we place the veterans' wreaths.

Note, those interested in placing wreaths on National Wreaths Across America Day - Saturday, Dec. 18, 2021 - MUST pre-register via the VOLUNTEER button on this page. Proof of pre-registration is required for entry into the cemetery.

Please bring a government issued photo ID for the initial security screening and note that face coverings are required indoors.

Thank you for supporting Wreaths Across America's efforts at Arlington National Cemetery!
