About Habitat for Humanity

Mission and Vision

A world where everyone has a decent place to live. Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity of Broward brings people together to build homes, communities and hope. Habitat Broward offers a “hand up” not a “hand out” to empower families who are willing to work hard to improve their family’s lives through affordable home ownership.

Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1976 by Millard and Linda Fuller. The idea that became Habitat for Humanity first grew from the fertile soil of Koinonia Farm, a small, interracial, Christian farming community founded in 1942 outside of Americus, Ga., by farmer and biblical scholar Clarence Jordan.

Habitat Broward was founded in June of 1983 as an independent affiliate. To date, we’ve served 612 hard-working families.
