Project Description
Project Description
Be a part of an unforgettable experience for our newly admitted Spartans! At Admitted Student Day, you'll be helping students and their families discover what it means to be part of the extraordinary Spartan community. We are seeking volunteers who are familiar with our campus and who are passionate about our community. Assignments will vary, but we are primarily looking for people to assist with helping families find their way to the various sessions across campus.
Assignments
The most important task as a volunteer is to provide that Spartan Spirit and to welcome our students and their families! For many of them, this will be their first time on campus, and it may be overwhelming for some. Staff and volunteers will play an important role in helping them to feel at ease and making sure they have the best time possible while here!
The primary task will be assisting our admitted students and their families in finding their way around campus, directing them to lunch locations, and to their selected academic sessions. Academic sessions will be held in multiple locations and buildings across campus. Volunteers will be paired with a staff member from the admissions office for the day and will be assigned one of the following: information tent, bus stop, academic buildings, residential buildings, Breslin.
Please note, there will be a lot of walking, standing, and time spent outside.
Lunch
Continental style breakfast and lunch will be provided for all volunteers. Due to the number of volunteers, staff and guests that we will be attempting to feed (approximately 12,000), unfortunately, we cannot guarantee the ability to meet dietary restrictions. If you have a specific restriction, we recommend bringing safe snacks or drinks.
Virtual Training
The Admissions Office will be hosting virtual meetings prior to the event. It is not required to attend, but it will be a great opportunity to review the plan for the day and to ask any questions you may have.
Important Note: All volunteers will be contacted by the Office of Admissions to conduct a mandatory background check.
