Project Description

We will be volunteering with Seabury's Age-in-Place program supports seniors "through transformative volunteer service projects that help people stay in their own homes."

Masks are required at all time to volunteers with DC Spartans. This project will be outdoors, allowing for social distancing and Seabury will provide PPE (although please bring your own mask.)

Here's a quick overview of what you can expect:

  • Arrive at Seabury's HQ (there is a parking lot as well as parking on the street.)
  • 15-20 minute orientation with AIP staff

  • Volunteers help load tools into the van

  • An AIP staff member will drive volunteers to the client’s home - there will be limit of 5 volnuteers max for this project to help keep with social distancing

  • Volunteers complete yard work and/or house cleaning projects, working alongside staff. This may include, but is not limited to: mowing grass, raking leaves, trimming hedges, cleaning kitchens and bathrooms, dusting, sweeping and mopping, vacuuming, washing windows and mirrors, etc.

  • When possible, time for conversation and sharing with client is included

  • Once service is complete, AIP staff will drive the group back to the office. Volunteers will take brief survey
