Project Description

Please join us as we partner with the West Michigan Spartans to Celebrate Black History Month through Service. For this combo project you will be volunteering at two (2) locations - Habitat for Humanity and 20 Liters. At 20 liters we will assemble water filtration systems for use in Rwanda to aid in the delivery of clean water to its residents. 20 liters, a nonprofit organization whose name reflects the World Health Organization's recommended 20 liters of clean water per person every day for drinking and hygiene, works to make dirty water clean for the most vulnerable through long-lasting and innovative solutions. By partnering with World Relief Rwanda, the organization mobilizes local churches, teaches health and hygiene skills, and delivers innovative and durable technologies in rural communities. By training and equipping volunteers and leaders from each sector, the communities are empowered to lead the change and sustain the impact. At Habitat for Humanity you will either be painting or air sealing and framing a home for a local family. Habitat for Humanity is a non profit organization that brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope. Habitat for Humanity builds, rehabs, and repairs homes; provides financial and home ownership training to home buyers, and contributes to neighborhood revitalization. Their Vision: A world where everyone has a decent place to live. This opportunity is coordinated in partnership with the West Michigan Spartans. You will be serving with alumni that live in the Grand Rapids / West Michigan area.
