Mapathon Aiding Global Humanitarian Efforts
Hosted by Orlando Spartans.
Volunteer registration is closed.
Project Description
As Spartans living in Central Florida, we are aware of the devastation that hurricanes and other natural disasters can bring to a region. We are fortunate to live in a developed area where our buildings and roadways appear on maps. So many other places around the world are still missing on maps, which first responders and humanitarians rely on for providing relief efforts.
We invite you to join us as we partner with Missing Maps to help map an area where humanitarian organizations are actively working to meet the needs of a vulnerable region. All you need is a computer, a mouse (USB/bluetooth mouse for laptops) and some Spartan Spirit! By registering for this project, we will send you more details as the event approaches as well as a link to our Zoom Kick-Off Meeting (June 19 at 7:00pm ET) where we will provide all the training you will need to get started with the mapping effort. During the Zoom Kick-Off Meeting, we will also have the opportunity to map alongside other Spartan alumni, friends and family while volunteering from the comfort of our own home.
We welcome any Spartan alumni, family or friends to join us in this virtual event. You do not need to reside in Central Florida to participate.
