Project Description

Food Rescue is a program of Goodwill Northern Michigan.

Food Rescue's "Healthy Harvest" Spartan volunteers help throughout the year to repack food received in bulk into family- and pantry-sized packages year-round in Traverse City. Repacking volunteer opportunities happen on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. at the Food Rescue facility at 2889 Aero Park Dr in Traverse City, just a block from Three Mile Rd.

Healthy Harvest volunteers also glean produce from local farms when opportunities arise throughout the growing season.

To join the Food Rescue Healthy Harvesters, please complete your Spartan community volunteer reservation using the link in the community partner accommodations section below.

About Goodwill Northern Michigan

Food Rescue is a program of Goodwill Northern Michigan.

Food Rescue does the logistical work of rescuing and distributing more than two million pounds of food a year to neighbors in need in Northwest Michigan. We collect soon-to-expire, fresh, nutritious food, and distribute it to area food pantries and community meal sites on the same day, at no cost to the pantries. We also function as a regional food hub, collaborating with the Northwest Food Coalition and other community partners to purchase food in bulk and distribute it across the region.
