Project Description

We ask that volunteers create a video sharing their favorite place - or thing to do - in Lansing. Although East Lansing destinations are acceptable, it is preferable to focus on the City of Lansing as we have few families in East Lansing. We encourage volunteers to be culturally competent and cognizant while filming the videos.

If possible to include some various languages if their students speak them, please do!  Arabic, Amharic, Burmese, French, Haitian, Karen, Karenni, Kinyrawandan, Hindi, Nepali, Somali, or Swahli are especially important languages to have videos in if possible. Be sure to use the word "welcome!" in your video!

After you register, you will receive access to a Center for Community Engaged Learning Google Drive where resources will be provided to get you started.  Google Drive information will provide you with all the necessary information and instructions to complete the project.

Community Partner - Refugee Development Center

About Refugee Development Center

The Refugee Development Center (RDC) is a grassroots organization offering formal and informal learning opportunities in an open and inclusive setting. The RDC opened in 2002 because the Greater Lansing community identified service-area gaps for newcomer populations seeking self-sufficiency. The common denominator in the gaps identified revolved around education, and hence, the mission of the center was born. Today, the RDC helps serve as the link between newcomer populations and the private, public, and faith-based communities of Ingham County and the Lansing area.
