Project Description

Join fellow San Antonians place flags at the headstones of soldiers at Fort Sam Houston cemetery.

Parking is limited, carpool, come early, or plan to park on the road and walk a long distance.

Please bring a pair of work gloves, a 6 inch screwdriver, and a ruler. The gloves will protect your hands from the repetitive motion of placing the flags. The screwdriver will create a pilot hole and uniform depth for the flag to sit in. The ruler will provide the uniform distance of 12 inches in front of the stone.

We will bring extra supplies in case you can't find these or forget yours.

Wear shoes for walking, bring water to hydrate, sunscreen to protect yourself, and wear something MSU or military related.

We won't have our section assignment until the day prior. Please check back here, or your registered email, for meet up locations. This is a very large cemetery so please study the map to know where to find us.

About Flags for the Fallen

Flags for the Fallen non-profit mission was established on May 14, 2012 for the purpose of ensuring an American flag is placed upon every veteran's grave site at each national cemetery in the country for Memorial Day. There are close to 800,000 interred American veterans across the country that are not given this hallowed honor. Through private and corporate donations, volunteerism, and the education of our next generation, our organization will work towards never allowing Americans to forget those who have served and sacrificed throughout our country's history for the freedoms we enjoy today.
