Project Description

We are looking for volunteers-----Come and join us.

Come join the Oakland Spartan family as we volunteer doing service work at Tollgate Farm.  The group will be volunteering to help keep MSU Tollgate beautiful and help with their successful planting and getting crops ready to be distributed to the needy.  No experience is needed.  Come have fun and meet other Spartans in the area!  No need to bring any tools.

High School students are welcome to use this for their volunteer hours needed for graduation.

You're welcome to explore Tollgate Farm and see the many animals  that reside on the property.  MSU Tollgate is an oasis of green in the ever more urbanized environment of southeast Michigan.  Of the 160 acres that constitute the MSU Tollgate Education Center, 70 acres are fields and pastures.  The farm has a beautiful pond, a forest and gardens that will be blooming.  Help Make this farm a beautiful MSU site!

About MSU Toll Gate Farm

MSU Farm and Education Center in Oakland County.   The views of rolling farmland available around MSU Tollgate are practically unknown elsewhere in present-day Oakland County. The 160 acre farmstead is currently owned by Michigan State University, College of Agriculture and Natural Resources and the Americana Foundation. MSU Tollgate farm represents a working farm with animals, community gardens, and sustainable agriculture demonstrations.

MSU Tollgate provides non-formal learning for children, families, and adults, offering the unique opportunity to experience agriculture hands-on in an urban environment. Using research based curriculum and methods, visitors can explore the joys of gardening and the natural world, appreciate and promote locally grown food, and develop a healthy community.
