Project Description

Join your fellow Savannah Spartans for a morning of giving back to our community!

We’ll be volunteering with Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia on Wednesday, November 18, from 9:00–11:00 a.m. Our group will take part in meaningful, hands-on projects in the volunteer center, helping prepare and distribute food to neighbors facing food insecurity throughout Second Harvest’s 21-county service area.

Volunteers are truly the lifeline of Second Harvest’s mission, and this is a great opportunity for the Savannah Spartans to roll up our sleeves, work together, and make a direct impact in our community.

About Second Harvest

Second Harvest serves as the food safety net for those who are at risk for hunger throughout Coastal Georgia.

Hunger is a real issue in our nation, our state, and in Coastal Georgia. There are more than 44 million people in the United States who struggle with food insecurity, 1.4 million in the state of Georgia, and 131,820 right here in Coastal Georgia.

More than 20 million meals distributed in 2024

230+ partner organizations and non-profits

Established in 1981 in Savannah Georgia, America’s Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia is a locally inspired, volunteer-driven nonprofit food bank and community partnering organization. We work diligently to feed tens of thousands of children, senior citizens, low-income families, and people with disabilities who face hunger by distributing nutritious food to non-profit agencies and partners.

Our programs include Brown Bag for the Elderly, Kids Cafe, Mobile Food Pantry, and our Partner Market Place. These programs are designed to provide hunger relief to those most vulnerable. We partner with 247 faith-based and non-profit agencies to provide emergency food assistance across Coastal Georgia.
