MSU FAME Finals Week Care Packages

Project Description

Create a personalized finals week care package for a resilient Spartan!

The Fostering Academics Mentoring Excellence (FAME) Program supports MSU students who have experienced foster care, kinship care, homelessness and other out of home placements. Each semester during finals week, we provide care packages to help provide tangible resources, support and encouragement as they push through the remaining weeks of the semester.

We will pair each interested volunteer with a specific student to create a customized survival kit just for them! Survival kits typically include items like toiletries, snacks, study supplies, stress-relieving activities, etc. You should expect to spend around $25-$30 for one survival kit. You will be provided with information on the student's preferences and dietary needs so you can be sure they will love the items you select! This email will also include instructions for dropping the care package off in East Lansing.

Please note the following important dates:

  • Deadline to register to sponsor a student: Wednesday 4/14
  • Receive information on your assigned student by Friday 4/16
  • Fully assembled kits can be dropped off between 4/17-4/19 (an address will be provided in the email you receive with information about your student’s preferences)

FAME is a resource center for foster youth alumni attending MSU as well as for youth who were in kinship care, have experienced homelessness, or are otherwise independent. FAME exists to provide support and resources to these students during their time at MSU to help them be successful during their collegiate experience on MSU's campus and during their transition to becoming MSU alumni.

Please direct all care package questions OR specific questions about the FAME program to Andrea Martineau at or call at (517) 5537.
