June Card Writing for Veterans

Project Description

Our next card event will be on June 13 at 4:30 p.m. for one hour. Of course, you’re welcome to sign up today and start sending cards now! Keep track and let us know how many you send.

You can attend this event in-person at Walk-On's Bistreaux & Bar, 1400 Pantheon Way, San Antonio, Texas 78232. ((All current military and veterans receive a discount on their food purchases.) Or, you can participate through our Zoom meeting as well.

San Antonio is known as Military City USA.Our great city has a high population of both active and retired military residents and many are Spartans. The Audie L. Murphy VA Medical Center provides a variety of services for the men and women who have honorably served our country. Some of these veterans have been isolated and separated from their families for more than year and are desperate for communication and positivity. It would brighten their day to get a friendly card and read words of encouragement from kind strangers in their community. To support this isolated sector of our community safely and remotely, we will send greeting cards that will be distributed to veterans and their families when they are receiving treatment in the San Antonio area.

This activity is meant for children, adults, friends and family who are here in Texas or out of state! Feel free to share with your friends and family.

How can you participate?

1.  Register here and now on the University’s website for our project. It only takes a minute. The registration gives our club credit for your time and gets you the Zoom link and mailing address to join this activity.
2. You can obtain cards by:
   1. Purchasing cards at a store
   2. Making your own cards
   3. Print one of our cards! (Printed on letter-sized paper and folded twice)
      1. All occasions, for the entire year available, including blank cards for kiddos to color!

   5. All cards will be removed from their envelopes to be passed out, feel free to put more than one card in an envelope.
