Project Description

The main library at MSU is a popular destination for students studying for finals. MSU Libraries staff is creative in finding ways to alleviate stress and encourage breaks during this hectic time for students. One popular event at the main library is Night of 1000 Donuts. The event name is accurate. 1,000 donuts are distributed to appreciative students at a rapid pace.

For this project, the Mid-Michigan Spartans are seeking volunteers for each noted shift: donut distribution prep, cart distritribution, green room distribution. The project is straight forward. Volunteers assisting with prep will be bagging donuts and assembling them in staging areas. Volunteers signing up for cart distribution will be wheeling carts through the library to pass out donuts to students. Volunteers in the green room will be distributing donuts to the students who come to that area for their donut. Library staff will have all items in a work area and necessary items like gloves. Wear your favorite MSU attire and a smile.The donuts go fast, so it's likely those signing up for cart and green room distribution will be done earlier than noted in the shift details.

Parking at the library is not an option for non-MSU employees during the day. There are options available nearby. The parking lot on the north side of Spartan Stadium (by the IM building and adjacent to The Spartan statue) has a pay-by-plate option. In the past, volunteers have opted to park in their favorite East Lansing lot/garage along Grand River and walk to the Main Library.

Once at the library, volunteers should report to the central reference desk and ask for Holly Flynn.
