Project Description
The Jacksonville Spartans will help the zoo staff with a project in preparation for this summer's IllumiNights! We will work 9 a.m.- 12 noon, and then you may enjoy the rest of the day at the zoo (free admission) after completion of the service.
Our tasks will include cleaning coins using an animal safe acid buffer, unpacking and sorting items, and stringing glow sticks. There may be other tasks in other areas of the zoo as well, but we wont know until we get there. Please report to the Education Campus at 8:45 to sign the required waivers. If education campus parking is full you may park anywhere else in guest parking. Wear comfortable clothing. Bring gloves, a hat, a reusable bottle of water and a small pre-packaged snack.
As you may know, a number of MSU Alumni and interns are employed at the Jacksonville Zoo. In fact, one of our local Jax alumni currently works with the Bonobos. We hope to have a service opportunity with Primates in the future. Unfortunately the primate and mammal deparments were uanble to schedule a project for us.
