Project Description

Team Build Day will help hard-working families achieve the dream of homeownership. More than 80% of Broward families can’t afford their own home and so can’t obtain the economic empowerment and security it provides. With your help we are tackling this challenge because everyone deserves a safe, decent, and affordable place to live. Thank you for changing lives.

Closer to the build date you will receive more detailed information on the site location and tasks that you will work on.

NOTE: AGE REQUIREMENT: All Volunteers must be 16 or older.  Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older to participate in all roofing tasks, tasks that require a ladder or any task that requires the use of power tools

WHAT TO BRING & WEAR Volunteers should wear comfortable, long pants or shorts and sturdy, closed-toe shoes (sneakers are acceptable – no sandals, flip-flops, or dress shoes). In addition, we suggest wearing a hat and bringing sunglasses. We will provide Personal Protective Equipment, training, tools, bottled water for you throughout the morning, and snacks at the mid-morning break. Many volunteers like to bring their own work gloves, but we will have one size fits most gloves available as well.

SCHEDULE:  Please arrive on site between 7:00 and 7:15 so you can check in, get your name badge and be ready for the 7:30 Morning Circle where we cover all important information including safety instructions.

About Habitat for Humanity Broward

Our Mission and Vision

A world where everyone has a decent place to live. Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity of Broward brings people together to build homes, communities and hope. Habitat Broward offers a “hand up” not a “hand out” to empower families who are willing to work hard to improve their family’s lives through affordable home ownership.

Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1976 by Millard and Linda Fuller. The idea that became Habitat for Humanity first grew from the fertile soil of Koinonia Farm, a small, interracial, Christian farming community founded in 1942 outside of Americus, Ga., by farmer and biblical scholar Clarence Jordan.

Habitat Broward was founded in June of 1983 as an independent affiliate. To date, we’ve served 612 hard-working families.
