Project Description

This service opportunity is in partnership with the Genesee County Spartans.  Volunteers will be serving with Spartan alums and members of the Genesee County Spartans Alumni Club.

Volunteers will help with a variety of activities to make spaces ready for children. A fitness room is in need of organization and cleaning that will include putting together spinning bikes. A video game room needs to be set up which would include connecting up game systems and organizing the space. A kids room could use help by installing a tv on the wall, cleaning, and organizing. Many rooms throughout the building are utilized so much every week by children, that they require deep cleaning such as mopping, dusting, window cleaning, re-organizing, and helping de-clutter items that have lost their usefulness.

Sylvester Broome Empowerment Village (SBEV): To both give youth a voice in their world and transform Flint into a just and equitable city, we nurture leadership skills and inspire students to be active, informed, and relentless agents for their success through our programs and services, which reach 300 students per day or over 6,000 families per year through more than 7 after-school programs. SBEV provides over 530 extra contact hours per year to at-risk youth, which is equivalent to 75 extra school days or 2.5 additional months of instruction per year!
